Senior Accountant

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking a highly hands-on Senior Accountant to join their growing accounting team. Reporting directly to the Controller, this individual will play a key role in owning the day-to-day accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting a timely and accurate month-end close process.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accountant who enjoys being actively involved in the details of accounting operations and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong general ledger experience, extensive month-end close responsibilities, and a proven ability to independently perform account reconciliations, prepare journal entries, research discrepancies, and maintain accurate financial records.


Key Responsibilities

General Ledger & Close Activities

  • Own and maintain assigned general ledger accounts
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, reclasses, and adjusting entries
  • Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
  • Analyze account activity and investigate unusual variances
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records

Account Reconciliations

  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Research and resolve reconciling items and account discrepancies
  • Investigate variances and work cross-functionally to resolve issues
  • Maintain supporting documentation and schedules

Financial Reporting

  • Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Support account analysis and financial reporting processes
  • Participate in variance analysis and management reporting
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies

Audit & Compliance Support

  • Assist with external audits and auditor requests
  • Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation
  • Support internal controls and process improvement initiatives

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiency
  • Assist with system enhancements and accounting workflow improvements
  • Support ongoing initiatives to strengthen internal controls

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong General Ledger accounting experience
  • Extensive month-end and year-end close experience
  • Experience preparing journal entries and accruals
  • Strong account reconciliation skills
  • Financial statement preparation experience
  • Experience researching and resolving accounting discrepancies
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or CPA candidate
  • NetSuite experience strongly preferred
  • Oracle or SAP experience preferred
  • Multi-entity accounting experience
  • Experience in a growing or entrepreneurial company environment
